history
As the first hospital in Mülheim an der Ruhr, an initially modest house with no more than 10 beds opens on March 19, 1850 on the church hill. A year earlier, the Protestant pastor Eduard Wilhelm Schulz had acquired a piece of land for this purpose. From 1875 on, the capacity of the hospital was expanded to 34 beds, and then to 150 beds in 1900. In 1925/26 further extensive extensions were carried out.
During the National Socialist era, forced sterilization was also carried out, for example on Anna Lehnkering (1915–1940).
The old buildings finally had to give way to a larger new building in 1976/77.
