The school, founded in 2014, is the first comprehensive school in Hilden. On September 13, 2019, it was named after Wilhelmine Fliedner .

Currently (September 2019) the lower secondary level (from grades 5 to 10) is in operation. The first upper level ( G9 ) will start in the coming school year (2020/21 ). The headmaster of the growing comprehensive school is Guedo Wandrey, Deputy Ulrike Tegtmeyer. The 750 pupils are currently being taught by 55 teachers.

Cooperation between both schools

Both schools maintain a strong cooperation. The school center is also visited by pupils from the surrounding area, as there are no G8 and G9 in a school yard anywhere else in NRW.

In grades 5 to 7 you can change schools without any problems. In the upper school z. B. Courses from the two schools merged to make this course possible. In order to avoid missed lessons, these schools also often switch teachers.

60-minute intervals

The new timetable of the DBG from the 2007/2008 school year

In the course of shortening the grammar school career from nine to eight years, the school center introduced the 60-minute cycle after a two-year trial . The Realschule goes to afternoon classes on Mondays and Thursdays, the Gymnasium on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. With this concept the lessons of the "omitted" school year should be absorbed. Both schools are open all-day schools : Participation in reliable afternoon care on the non-teaching days for homework and leisure activities is voluntary.

history

Until 2014, the Evangelical School Center Hilden consisted of the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Gymnasium and the Wilhelmine-Fliedner-Realschule as well as a boarding school. In 2014 the Evangelical Comprehensive School Hilden was added. At the DBG, the Abitur was completed by 2012 after 13 years.

The Wilhelmine Fliedner Realschule was founded in 1955 as a girls' school and named after the school's founder, Wilhelmine Fliedner . Partner schools were found in France, in England and for support purposes in the Congo. It was part of the school center until 2019. Operations ended in 2014 with the start of the new Evangelical Comprehensive School in Hilden . The comprehensive school took over the rooms year after year. The last class of "Fliedner" was taught by 17 teachers, consisted of five classes and comprised 125 students. He was dismissed on June 28, 2019 as the last year of the last secondary school in Hildens for boys and girls.

The Wilhelmine-Fliedner-Realschule at the Hilden school center was one of the few schools in Germany to introduce the “ teacher's room system ” in 2008 , in which not every class has a classroom, but every teacher their own room. As a result, the students have to change rooms in the 5-minute breaks, which is how the school demonstrably managed to prevent accidents and thefts almost completely. In addition, since the 2006/2007 school year, the Evangelical School Center in Hilden has made it possible for its students to have a “trial transfer”. The teacher room system seems to have been abandoned in the meantime.

Evangelical Comprehensive School Hilden

The comprehensive school was founded in 2014 under the name Evangelische Gesamtschule Hilden . On September 13, 2019, like its predecessor, the Wilhelmine Fliedner Realschule, it was named after Wilhelmine Fliedner . Headmaster Guedo Wandrey emphasized at the renaming ceremony that he and his colleagues would like to keep the motto of the former secondary school, which was founded in 1955 as a girls' secondary school. One should know in whose tradition the new school is.

Boarding school

The school center had a boarding school as well as a day boarding school.

Since 1999 there was also a judo boarding school. In 1998 the school center agreed to work with the North Rhine-Westphalian Judo Association (NWJV). The school should provide the hall and a house for accommodation (domicil) , the NWJV then built a judo boarding school and was allowed to use the hall for training and courses. Rolf Fischer, who was the national youth coach until June 1998, started as a sports teacher at the school center after the summer vacation. After the triple gymnasium was inaugurated in December, the NWJV laid out the Fliednerhalle completely with judo mats.

In the following year Hilden became a state performance base for the youth, the training was led by Rolf Fischer and the state trainers Oliver Rychter and Pia Unrath and the judo boarding school was opened. In May, a cooperation was finally concluded with JC 71 Düsseldorf , the club was allowed to use the hall for club training, but the students were able to enjoy improved judo training through the club and were looked after by club coaches at tournaments and championships on weekends. In addition, the judo club should do the press work, bring championships to Hilden and clean the mats annually.

The house domicil became a boarding house in 2001 for financial reasons. Because of this, the training activities of the NWJV in Hilden had to be greatly reduced, all other judo activities were retained and Peter Schlatter, European judo champion from 1995, became a teacher at the school center. In 2003 he founded the Olympic group in cooperation with the JC 71 to promote talent , which did not participate in the boarding school. A member of the Olympic group , Lukas Krautmacher, was West German champion in 2004 in the U15.

In 2005 the male team of the DBG was 3rd in the state championship of schools, in 2008 1st in the boys and 2nd in the girls.

In addition, since 2003 the school center has been a location for the annual summer academy of the German Student Academy . The boarding school was closed by the sponsor for cost reasons.

The school had a boarding school for boys and girls, which was also maintained by the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. As part of the austerity resolutions, the Rhenish Church Synod decided on January 20, 2014 that the boarding school should be closed.

Due to the boarding school, which used to belong to the schools, the Evangelical School Center Hilden has a sufficiently large cafeteria. Since this has seen a greater rush since the switch to the 60-minute cycle, a new, digital payment system was introduced after the 2007/2008 Christmas holidays. Since then, food has been ordered online via the Internet and since summer 2015 has been paid for cashless with a card.
