Eve Titus
Eve Titus (born July 16, 1922 in New York City , † February 4, 2002 in Orlando , Florida) was an American children's author. She was best known for her book series Basil, the Mouse Detective and Anatole .
The five books about the Sherlock Holmes- inspired mouse detective Basil were illustrated by Paul Galdone . Eve Titus hoped the books would interest children in reading the Sherlock Holmes stories later. The children's books were well received by the Sherlock Holmes fan base, including Arthur Conan Doyle's youngest son, Adrian Conan Doyle , to whom several books are dedicated.
The Anatole series revolves around the adventures of the French mouse Anatole.
Both series were adapted as cartoons. Basil the Great Mouse Detective was released by Walt Disney Studios in 1986 and a 26-part series about Anatole was released in 1998.
