Evelyn Lawler

Evelyn Lawler (married Lewis; born October 18, 1929 ) is a former American sprinter , hurdler , high and long jumper .

Career

At the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires in 1951 , she was sixth in the 100 m as well as in the high jump and eighth in the long jump. In 1950 she became US champion over 80 m hurdles . She set her best time in this discipline of 11.3 s on March 18, 1951 in Santiago de Chile .

Her son Carl Lewis is a nine-time Olympic champion in sprint and long jump. Her daughter Carol Lewis was also successful as a long jumper.
