Everardo Backheuser

Everardo Adolpho Backheuser (born May 23, 1879 in Niterói , Brazil ; † January 1, 1951 ibid) was a Brazilian geographer and geologist. He was a professor at the Technical University of Rio de Janeiro .

Life

He was the son of the Brazilian businessman João Carlos Backheuser and was educated in the German Empire. His grandfather was the founder of the Germania Club in Santos, Brazil, while his grandmother was from France .

Everardo Backheuser attended the National High School and the Technical University in Rio de Janeiro. He graduated as a geographer and initially worked as a civil engineer. In addition, he received his doctorate. rer. phys. et. nat.

After several years of working as an assistant at the Technical University in Rio de Janeiro, he was appointed professor of mineralogy and geology.

From 1909 to 1916 Everardo Backheuser was State Deputy in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to numerous merits as a geologist and geographer, he also made important contributions to educational psychology in Brazil.
