The Evergestiinae are a subfamily of the Crambidae . There are currently around 137 known species in total. There are around 39 species in Europe.

The Evergestiinae can be justified by a special formation of the male genital organs as monophylum .

Way of life

The early stages of the Evergestinae within have been little studied. In the few species examined, the caterpillars form a web and feed on cruciferous plants (Brassicaceae).

Systematics

The subfamily Evergestiinae contains about eight genera, three of which occur in Europe. The genus Evergestis alone contains over 30 species occurring in Europe.
