Evert Musch

Evert Musch (born March 16, 1918 in Groningen , † December 5, 2007 in Anloo ) was a Dutch painter .

Live and act

Musch studied from 1936 to 1940 at the Academie Minerva in his native town with Willem Valk , Arnold Willem Kort and Cornelis Pieter de Wit . From 1947 to 1981 Musch was a lecturer at the Minerva Academy as the successor to his teacher de Wit. His students included Henk Helmantel , Wim Crouwel and Martin Tissing .

Musch made paintings and watercolors, landscapes and portraits in naturalistic-impressionistic style are characteristic. He worked u. a. also as a lithographer and illustrator of the books Kinderen in verstand en boosheid by the Groningen writer Piet Keuning and Harm, de boer van 't Hoogelaand by Lucas Jonker .

In 1943 Musch married the painter Johanna ("To") Jager, whom he had met at the Minerva Academy. In 1945 they both moved from Groningen to the Drenthe . Musch was a member of the De Jongeren artists' association from 1941 to 1942 and of the Drentse Schilders from 1947 to 1953 . In 1954 he was a co-founder of the Drents Schildersgenootschap artists' association . In 1985 he received the Drenthe Province Culture Prize. The Drents Museum in Assen held a retrospective of his work in 1988.
