Yevgeny Viktorovich Varlamov ( Russian Евгений Викторович Варламов * 7. December 1976 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is a former Estonian - Russian ice hockey player , who throughout his career for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Ak Bars Kazan in the Continental hockey League and Superliga was active.

Career

Yevgeny Varlamow began his career as an ice hockey player with Krylya Sovetov Moscow , for which he was active in the Russian Super League from 1995 to 1998 . He then moved to their league rivals Ak Bars Kazan , with whom he was runner-up in 2000 and 2002, respectively. After five years in Kazan, the defender received a contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , with whom he was again runner-up in 2004 and won the Spengler Cup in 2005. In addition, Varlamov was in the 2006/07 season for the first time in his career Russian champion with his team, whereupon he qualified with Metallurg for the IIHF European Champions Cup , which he also won with Magnitogorsk. In the 2008-09 season he moved with his team in the final of the newly formed Champions Hockey League one in which he and his team the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A defeated.

From May 2011, Varlamow was under contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod before ending his career in July 2013.

International

At the beginning of his career, Varlamov ran for Estonia and took part in the U18-C European Championship in 1993 . Two years later he represented the country's U20 team at the U20 World Cup in Division C2 .

Varlamov later decided on the Russian national ice hockey team and was used between 2005 and 2009 at international matches as part of the Euro Hockey Tour .
