The Evolution Tower is a skyscraper in Moscow City , Moscow's financial district . The 246 meter high office building was designed by Tony Kettle in collaboration with Karen Forbes from the University of Edinburgh, RMJM Architects and Philipp Nikandrov, chief architect of Gorprojekt. The foundation work began in summer 2011. Construction was completed in 2014 and opened on October 6th of that year. The most striking feature of the skyscraper is its shape, which was modeled on a DNA strand. The entire tower has a rotation of 135 °. This corresponds to a rotation of about 2.5 ° for each of the 55 above-ground floors. The cost of the tower amounted to 500 million US dollars , that of the entire complex to around 1 billion. Today (as of 2019) the Evolution Tower is the ninth tallest building in Moscow and the sixteenth tallest in Europe .

In 2015, the skyscraper won second place in the Emporis Skyscraper Award .
