Ewald Aul

Ewald Aul (born April 9, 1926 in Osnabrück ; † April 10, 2013 there ) was a German Holocaust survivor, freight forwarder and head of the Jewish community in Osnabrück .

Life

After the death of his grandparents in 1940, his aunt Frieda Lieblich (1886–1942) took care of Ewald Aul.

Together with his aunt Aul in December 1941 after Riga deported and from there to the Stutthof concentration camp . Frieda Lieblich was murdered in February / March 1942 during the so-called Operation Dünamünde . Aul was one of the five Jewish Holocaust survivors from Osnabrück. He returned to Osnabrück, founded the synagogue community there with the four other survivors and was its head for over 25 years. In 1980 he co-founded the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation e. V. Osnabrück . Ewald Au found his final resting place in the Jewish cemetery on Magdalenenstrasse in Osnabrück.
