The Ewald Dörken AG (external appearance as Dörken Group also Dörkengroup in own case DÖRKENGROUP ) is a medium-sized German chemical company based in Herdecke . The family company is active on the market in the four business areas of building composite films, micro-layer corrosion protection systems, building paints and paste systems.

history

In 1892, Carl and Ewald Dörken founded Ewald Dörken OHG for the production of lacquers , lacquer and anti-rust paints. In 1929, Ewald Dörke AG was founded and management passed to the second generation of the family. Together with Fritz Kemner, Karl Dörken and Heinrich Herminghaus, Carl Dörken's son-in-law, formed the board of the new stock corporation. Ewald Dörken and Hellmut Herminghaus joined the company in 1951 as the third generation.

In 1987 Werner Richard (1916–1987), Carl Dörken's son-in-law, founded the non-profit Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation for the promotion of cultural life, science and the preservation of architectural monuments in Westphalia . In August 1987 Werner Richard signed the founding charter and transferred part of his assets, including his company shares, to the foundation. After Werner Richard's death in December 1987, all of his assets, with the exception of small bequests, were transferred to the foundation. The company celebrated its 100th anniversary in spring 1992. At the same time, Ute Herminghaus-Böcking and Karl E. Dörken joined the board as the fourth generation. The third generation board members, Ewald Dörken and Hellmut Herminghaus, switched to the supervisory board.

In 1995 a production site was opened in Canada, in 1998 one near the Herdeck headquarters in the Vorhalle district of Hagen and another in Turkey in 2005. The groundbreaking ceremony for the start of construction work for a new spunbond manufacturing facility in Hagen-Vorhalle was celebrated in September 2013 . At 35 million euros, it is the largest single investment in the company's history to date. The opening of the new spunbond production took place in May 2015.

In January 2016 Thorsten Koch became a member of the board of Ewald Dörken AG, Ute Herminghaus-Böcking and Karl E. Dörken switched to the supervisory board. An external board of directors resulted from the age structure and the lack of management experience of potential successors from the entrepreneurial family.
