Ewelina Firek (* 1968 in Cosel ) is a German-Polish artist.

Life

Ewelina Firek's father was one of the most important regional painters in her place of birth. That is why she enjoyed an extensive artistic education from an early age. After leaving what was then communist Poland in 1987, the nineteen-year-old high school graduate built a new life in Germany. She first lived in Hanover before moving to Munich in 1993 . There she learned the trade of bookseller in a scientific bookstore and continued her artistic education at the same time. Since 2001 she has been employed in the area of ​​media services in the city administration of Celle . She has been designing the city of Celle's Golden Book since 2013 . For several years she also headed the German-Polish youth art project of the city of Celle and the city of Kwidzyn. Since 2010 she has been chairwoman of the German-Polish cult group Celle e. V.

Ewelina Firek paints, among other things, abstract oil and acrylic paintings. Recurring motifs are the Italian landscape, the Baltic Sea coast and portraits of women. Her repertoire of artistic forms of expression also includes collages and sculptures. Again and again, impressions of her childhood also influence Firek's art. At the end of 2018 she exhibited under the motto “Split - Cross Section of a Life” in the Gothic Hall in Celle Castle and took up, among other things, the strict Catholic upbringing in Poland, her experience of fleeing and other social issues.

Firek was also part of a group exhibition in the Albert-König-Museum , exhibited in Hanover and at numerous cultural locations in Celle.
