Expert System S. p. A. is a provider of multilingual technologies for cognitive computing and cognitive automation for the analysis of text content as well as unstructured and structured data. The performance of the software solutions is based on Cogito, a patented, multilingual, semantic technology. Cogito uses artificial intelligence to simulate human text comprehension skills ( semantics ) combined with machine learning ( deep learning ). Since February 2014, Expert System shares in Expert System S. p. A. traded on the Milan Stock Exchange. The company has numerous branches in Europe as well as in the USA and Canada and customers in the fields of medical technology, pharmaceuticals, energy and media as well as government organizations. In 2016, Expert System expanded its offering for the finance and insurance industry. Stefan Welcker has been Managing Director DACH at Expert System Deutschland GmbH since March 2017.

1989 - Expert System S. p. A. was founded in Modena , Italy.
1992 - Expert System announces the availability of the software "Errata Corrige", a semantic technology for speech analysis .
1994 - The company licenses an enhanced version of Errata Corrige to Microsoft for an Italian spell checker .
1999 - The first version of Cogito, a software solution for semantic analysis.
2007 - Cogito was patented in the United States .
2009 - Expert System opens its first offices in the United States.
2009 - The company outsources its semantic advertising solutions to create ADmantX to help publishers and advertising networks improve ad exchanges with advertisers and agencies through online advertising campaigns using semantic technology.
2014 - Expert System shares have been traded on the Milan Stock Exchange under the symbol EXSY since the IPO .

2015 - Expert System acquires TEMIS, provider of semantic content enrichment solutions for companies.
