Extremschrammeln (also Neuwirth Extremschrammeln or Roland Neuwirth & Extremschrammeln , formerly Neuwirth Schrammeln ) is an Austrian quintet of new folk music that was founded in 1974. The founder, lead singer and Schrammel guitarist is Roland Neuwirth . The music of Roland Neuwirth and the Extremschrammeln combines elements of the traditional Wienerlied and Schrammel music with those of blues , jazz , rock and new music .

Doris Windhager sings the overwhelming voice of Extremschrammeln. In addition to her work with Extremschrammeln , she is also a guest and background musician in several other bands, such as the 1. Wiener Pawlatschen AG .

Manfred Kammerhofer , the violinist of the Extremschrammeln , met Neuwirth's wife - at that time still a member of the band - in 1979 and shortly afterwards went from graphic artist to musician. Since 1989 he has been a member of the United Theaters in Vienna . He also plays as a musician a. a. also in the Alt-Wiener-Quartett .

Bernie Mallinger is also a violinist. He had been interested in jazz and crossover music since the age of 14 . In the 1990s he moved to the United States for some time , where he attended several music schools. In 1997 he returned to Austria and participated in around 50 productions of 'all kinds'.

On September 23, 2016 Neuwirth and the Extremschrammeln started their farewell tour.
