Exu , officially Município de Exu , is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pernambuco . Exu was officially founded on June 7, 1885.
Origin of the place name
There are two versions of the origin of the name. The first says that it is a derivative of the name of the regional Indian tribe Ançu . The other version of the origin of the name derives it from the deity of the Yoruba Eshu , whose beliefs the African slaves had brought to the region.
