Exxon Neftegas Limited (Russian Эксон Нефтегаз Лимитед) is an oil and gas company on the Pacific island of Sakhalin in Russia .

Exxon Neftegas Limited is the lead company in the Sakhalin I Project , which is producing oil and gas on the shelf off the Sakhalin coast in the Sea of ​​Okhotsky . Partners are the Japanese consortium SODECO, the Indian company ONGC Videsh Ltd. and two subsidiaries of the Russian oil company Rosneft . Sakhalin 1 consists of three production fields with an expected total capacity of around 2.3 billion barrels (310 million tons) of oil and 480 billion cubic meters of gas and is one of Russia's largest undeveloped reserves.

Exxon Neftegas Ltd. acts as managing director of the project and as the most important negotiating partner. It cooperates with numerous companies, mainly from the region.

The company makes generous donations to municipal and social institutions. It supports organizations of the indigenous people, such as the Batani Foundation .

Exxon Neftegas Limited is a subsidiary of the US oil company ExxonMobil . The company headquarters are in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk , with additional offices in Moscow and Texas City . The official company headquarters are in Nassau , Bahamas .

James Harland Taylor is the general manager.

history

The company was founded in 1998 at the latest. From that year Rex Tillerson was chairman. In 2001 it was one of the companies that could operate the Sakhalin I project.

In 2005 commercial production began in Chaino (Chajno). In 2007, up to 250,000 barrels (40,000 tons) of oil were produced per day.

From 2012 the deepest and most extensive oil wells in the world were carried out several times.

Exxon Neftegas did not participate in the US sanctions in 2014 as they only affected investments in Russia.
