Eynsham

Eynsham center

Eynsham is a village and civil parish in Oxfordshire , in the south east of England . It is about 8 km west of Oxford . In 2001 it had 4,665 inhabitants.

The place is mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle , because it is said to have been conquered by them in 571 after a battle between the Anglo-Saxons and the British along with Limbury, Aylesbury and Benson.

The Eynsham Lock is south of the village in the Thames .
