Ruthe ferry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ferry Ruthe in Ruthe was maintained in the 19th century ferry on the leash . It was first operated at the time of the Kingdom of Hanover in 1832, when persistent ice had destroyed the Ruther Leine Bridge. Today's Sarstedt district of Ruthe was the official seat of the Ruthe District .

The first ferry was built by the shipbuilder and skipper "Mattfeldt" based in Linden near Hanover with a length of 28 feet and a width of 7 feet for the price of 600 thalers . The Royal Chamber of Domains employed the ferryman Bradenstahl for operation, with an annual salary of 123 thalers.

In 1853 another ferry was acquired, this time from the shipbuilder Hartje from Limmer . After the death of the ferryman Bradenstahl, his widow continued the ferry operation with the help of the ferryman Wolf, who was hired by her, until a new Ruther Leinebrücke was built in 1873 during the founding of the German Empire and made ferry operations superfluous.
