The rake is a former lock on the Großer Regen on the B 11 between Ludwigsthal and Theresienthal in the city of Zwiesel .

Here, at the narrowing of the valley (“in the falls”), this floating debris rake was built to better regulate the rafting . The wooden structure built in 1857/58 lies across the river. The two-storey wooden house was connected to the street by a wooden walkway covered in 1885 over the rain.

Under the corridor, the so-called “spindles”, eight to ten meters long lumber with a diameter of 20 to 25 centimeters, were lowered into the water at an inclined angle. As a result, the driftwood was dammed up. When this “rake” was then pulled, the pent-up wood could pass through. In 1874, a record 300,000 logs left the structure. The case rake was used in this way until the 1950s. It has been state property since the national park was expanded and only accessible to the residents of the former lock keeper's house as access to their property. In 2008 the listed building will be renovated by the Bavarian Forest National Park .
