Félix Auvray (born March 31, 1800 in Cambrai ; † September 11, 1833 there ) was a French history painter , caricaturist and writer.

His brothers also became artists: the painter Alexandre-Hippolyte Auvray (1798–1860) and the sculptor Louis Auvray (1810–1890). He came to Valenciennes with his parents when he was still a child.

Félix Auvray was from 1812 a student at the art school in Valenciennes with Jacques-François Momal and thanks to a scholarship from the city of Valenciennes he studied from 1820 at the École des beaux-arts de Paris with Antoine-Jean Gros .

He dealt with history painting. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1824 with two paintings, in 1827 he exhibited one more. In 1825 he came to Italy , first to Rome , and in 1826 to Florence . This is where his most important work, “The Sword of Damocles”, which is currently in the Valenciennes Museum, was created. He returned to Paris in 1828. He died at the age of 33.
