The Federal Public Service Social Security (in the abbreviation FPS SS or FPS Social Security for short ) is the Ministry of Social Affairs of Belgium and one of fourteen Federal Public Services .

The Ministry of Social Affairs is divided into five General Directorates for Social Policy , Strategic Support, Self-Employed , Social Inspection and the General Directorate for Benefits for People with Disabilities .
Social security authorities and institutions
Several offices and social security systems are subordinate to the Ministry to fulfill its tasks. These include the Office for Overseas Social Security (AÜSS) and the Relief and Support Fund for Seafarers (HUKS). The two funds for accidents at work (FAU) and for occupational diseases (FBK) are also subordinate to the FPS Social Security. In addition, the state offices for job creation (LFA), annual leave (LAJU), family allowances for the benefit of wage earners (LAFBLE), social security (LASS) and social security of the provincial and local administrations (LASSPLV) work for the ministry. The social insurance is administered by the two state institutes for social insurance for the self-employed (LISVS) and for health and disability insurance (LIKIV). Finally, the central social security database (ZDSS), the state pension office (LPA) and the public social welfare centers (ÖSHZ) of the municipalities belong.
