Federation of Democratic Workers' Associations
The Federation of Democratic Workers 'Associations ( Turkish : Demokratik İşçi Dernekleri Federasyonu , DIDF ) was founded in December 1980 as an umbrella organization for workers' and cultural associations . It is an organization of mainly Turkish and Kurdish workers in Germany and also operates in the Netherlands , Austria , Great Britain , France and Switzerland .
There are currently more than 40 local associations in Germany. Areas of activity range from union-related work to active student initiatives at universities and other colleges to arbitration groups and social and cultural engagements aimed at promoting dialogue. Several Turkish-Kurdish TV channels and over 10,000 visitors from all over Europe had come to the 25th anniversary celebration in Essen.
In 2007 she was rated as left-wing extremist by the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution . However, it is no longer mentioned in current (as of October 2018) reports by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
The Bundestag member Sevim Dağdelen and the former North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament member Özlem Alev Demirel , both members of the Left , were members of the DIDF federal executive committee. The DIDF activist Sadet Karabulut , who was elected on the list of the Socialist Party (SP), has been a member of the Dutch parliament since November 2006 . The Hamburg parliamentarians Deniz Çelik and Mehmet Yıldız (Die Linke) are also members of the DIDF.
In 2012 the Federation of Democratic Workers' Associations joined the Umfairteile alliance .
In 2016, then chairwoman Sefariye Ekşi received the integration medal from the German government for extraordinary commitment.
