Award for design from the City of Munich
The Design Prize of the City of Munich (prior to 2011 Prize for Applied Art of the City of Munich ) has been awarded since 1980 (biennial since 2000) for an outstanding artistic achievement or unusual artistic position in the field of design.
All areas of design (product, fashion, font design, etc.) are taken into account. The current performance and previous work of the artist are decisive for the assessment. Only artists who live in Munich or the Munich region or whose work is closely linked to Munich's cultural life are eligible for the sponsorship awards. A personal application is not possible. A commission to be convened annually by the city council, which consists of specialist jurors and members of the city council, has the right to make proposals. The prize is endowed with 6,000 euros.
The prize design together with the sponsorship architecture , the Foundation Art , the Prize Photography and the Prize jewelry forgiven. A separate jury is set up for each area. Works by all of the artists proposed by the jury will each be shown in an exhibition in the Lothringer13 municipal art gallery. The jury meetings at which the winners are determined take place in the exhibition rooms.
