The pentagonal tower of Poreč ( Croatian peterokutna kula ) is a defense tower in the city of Poreč , on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula in Croatia .

Istria was part of the Republic of Venice from 1267 to 1797 . This had the tower built in the 15th century on the basis of a tower that probably dates back to the 13th century . The tower was part of the city ​​fortifications and its top was originally built towards the Adriatic Sea , from which an attack on the city of Poreč was expected.
