Mains Lodge is a lodge on the grounds of the Scottish villa Dalmoak House south of the town of Renton in the council area of West Dunbartonshire . James Aitken , owner of the Rosebank whiskey distillery in Camelon , had Dalmoak House built as a country estate between 1866 and 1869. In the course of this, outbuildings were also built, including the lodge. In 1980 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

description

The Mains Lodge marks the beginning of an access road to the villa. It is located southeast of Dalmoak House on what is now the A812 . A gate runs along the street, which is similar in design to the north gate . Two massive sandstone gate pillars flank the entrance to the Kutschweg. They have a round floor plan and close with crown-like, encircling battlements that rest on small corbels . A band runs around halfway up. The Kutschweg is flanked on both sides by pedestrian paths, each delimiting another pillar of the same design. The pillars carry cast iron gates.

The one-storey lodge in the Tudor Gothic style consists of two parts of the building. Their front faces south. Two windows and a door are arranged symmetrically on the western part of the building. The building openings are set off with ashlar stones. The part of the building ends with a hipped roof . The eastern part of the building is designed with encircling battlements. The cantilevered chimneys are arranged on the gable side.
