Principality of Klezk

The Principality of Klezk ( Belarusian Клецкае княства ) was a dominion around Klezk in what is now Belarus .

In 1127 a prince of Klezk was mentioned. Since the 15th century, the area has mostly been referred to as powiat Klezk .

history

A Slavic settlement existed in Klezk since the 9th century, and a castle since the 11th century. This probably belonged to the Principality of Turow .

For 1127, Vyacheslav Yaroslavich was mentioned as the only prince of Klezk at that time , who took part in a military campaign by Russian princes to Polotsk . After 1142/1146 and 1149 Klezk belonged to the domain of Svyatoslaw Olgovich . After that it belonged back to Turow .

In 1320 the area became part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . In 1442 Klezk was given limited autonomy as a regional center of power. In 1452 the structure was referred to as the Klezk rule , later mostly as the powiat Kleck . At the beginning of the 16th century there was also the name of the Principality of Klezk again .

In 1558 the area came to the princes of Radziwiłł . There it was called Państwo Klecko ( Reign of Klezk ). It was administratively, legally and militarily independent to a limited extent. In 1579 Klezk became the center of an ordination . H. an administrative unit of the rulership of the Radziwiłł (with the towns of Alyzk and Njaswisch and the Principality of Dawid-Gorodok ). In the 17th century there was again the term Klezk principality in Radziwiłł documents .

In 1791, the former principality of Klezk became part of a powiat Sluzk in the Nowogrodek Voivodeship , together with the former principalities of Slutsk and Nyasvish . In 1793 the area came to Russia in the Minsk governorate .

The area was on the upper Lan . In 1558 it comprised approximately today's Klezk district and the southern part of Naswischski district .

Since the middle of the 16th century, the powiat Klezk was divided into the districts Walasny , Wjaschewizki , Kanjuschski , Maleuski , Sinjauski and Zjazerauski with 698 hamlets. The Klezker Land included 45 hamlets, the town of Sinjauka and 52 villages.
