Swidrygiello was Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1430 to 1432. His father was the Grand Duke Olgierd , his mother, Juliana , came from the Prince of Tver. As an opponent of the union between Poland and Lithuania, he allied himself several times with the Teutonic Knight Order against his older brother Jogaila, who in the meantime became King of Poland as Władysław II Jagiełło and against his cousin Wigand ( lit.Vytautas ), who was Grand Duke in Lithuania . After his death in 1430, he allied himself again with the German order of knights, the Grand Duchy of Moscow and the Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg , which led to a civil war from 1432-1439.
