F1 Manager Professional is the successor to the computer game F1 Manager 96 from Software 2000 . It was released in 1997. Unlike its predecessor, this game does not have the official FIA - license .

Structure of the game

The player slips into the role of a manager and controls the game in a drawn environment. There is an organization office, a factory hall and the race track, the place where the game actually happens. You start in 1997 as the person responsible for a given racing team. It is also possible to lead your own racing team. After the selection, staff must be recruited for the racing team. Subsequently, sponsors are taken care of and the first parts are designed for the racing car. After the first test drives, the team will start the season in Melbourne .

Lack of license and modding

Since Software 2000 still had the licenses for the 1996 Formula 1 season in its predecessor and Heinz-Harald Frentzen was the consultant, all names could be incorporated in the predecessor, true to Formula 1. The developers no longer had this option in the successor. Therefore, the game had to be given the wrong name (except for RTL and Renault ). However, Software 2000 built in a converter for owners of the F1 Manager 96 , which transfers the data from the predecessor to F1 Manager Professional. A game editor was also installed, which gave the option of changing driver names and adapting other things to your own needs. To this day there are still numerous modders who keep the game up to date with their modifications .

New to the predecessor

Software 2000 had already promised the possibility of automation for the racing mechanics with the F1 Manager 96, but only built it into the F1 Manager Professional. This should enable the player to determine which auto parts are automatically built and how they should be built.
