FCA Srbija doo Kragujevac is a Serbian automobile manufacturer based in Kragujevac . The successor company to Zastava is a joint venture between Fiat Chrysler (67%) and the Serbian government (33%).

history

The joint venture agreement with a term of ten years was signed on September 29, 2008. In this contract, Fiat was granted tax and duty exemption until 2018.

The plant was extensively modernized for the start of production of the Fiat 500L in 2012. In the three-year renovation phase, around one billion euros were invested in infrastructure, buildings, machinery and production systems. Today FCA Srbija is one of the most modern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) plants in the world.

Up to 2500 people were involved in the renovation. Theoretical production capacity should then be 700 copies per day or 200,000–300,000 vehicles per year. The targeted numbers were not achieved. The previous production record from 2014 was 116,000 copies. Thereafter, 91,769 vehicles (2015) and around 92,000 vehicles (2017) were produced. In 2016, FCA Srbija was the largest export company in the Republic of Serbia.

The working atmosphere is characterized by dissatisfaction, labor disputes and (due to insufficient demand) temporary plant closings. After the initial three-shift operation, the company switched back to two shifts in 2016. The infrastructure measures originally promised by the Serbian government (motorway and better rail connections) had not yet been implemented by 2018.

At the end of 2018, the company had around 2,400 employees.

After the contract period had expired, both sides emphasized that they wanted to continue the cooperation.

Models

After the takeover by Fiat, the Zastava models Skala , Yugo and Florida were manufactured until November 2008 .

In March 2009 the first copies of the Fiat Punto 188 were produced. This model was also temporarily restored from 2013.

The Fiat 500L has been produced in various versions for the international market since 2012 .

The contractually agreed introduction of a new model for 2014, however, did not take place.
