FC Lengnau is a Swiss football club from Lengnau , in the 1950s in the National League played. The association, founded in 1924, had 324 members as of January 1, 2009.
history
The Lengnau football club was founded on May 13, 1924. After years in the 4th and 3rd league , the FCL rose to the 2nd division in the 1943/44 season . Under coach Erich Voumard, the club made it to the first division in the 1945/46 season . In the same season, the club defeated the National League B club SC Derendingen in the Swiss Cup , but was eliminated in the next round against Urania Genève Sport . In 1948 Erich Rüegsegger took over the management of the first team. Under him, the FCL won a cup game against the National League A club Young Fellows Zurich and came in second. After two coach changes, FC Lengnau was group winners of the central group under coach Bruno Wyss in the 1954/55 season and rose to the National League B. The FCL stayed there until the 1959/60 season and in the meantime reached the quarter-finals of the Swiss Cup until the club had to relegate back to the first division and after the 1962/63 season to the second division.
After several seasons in the 2nd division, FC Lengnau rose again to the 1st division in 1983 under Bernhard Lander. In the 1985/86 season the club defeated the reigning cup winners FC Aarau and reached the quarter-finals. After numerous departures, including from Erich Hänzi , FCL returned to the 2nd division in 1987 and was relegated to the 3rd division in 1992.
The youth department of FC Lengnau has been together with that of FC Pieterlen since 2006 .
