FDRTools (currently: FDRTools 2.4.0 ) is a special HDR software for creating HDR images . Andreas Schömann ( AGS Technik ) developed the software for the Mac OS X and Windows operating systems .
designation
The name derives from the English abbreviation for F ull D se Dynamic R is Tools from. In German, for example: Full dynamic range tools .
Versions
- A functionally reduced version can be downloaded as freeware under the name FDRTools Basic .
- The full version can be downloaded as a trial version that can be used indefinitely. However, the generated image is provided with a perceptible watermark .
- The manufacturer also offers an FDRCompressor plug-in for Adobe Photoshop CS2 / 3/4 and compatible programs. This is also offered as a fully functional test version. A watermark is also inserted into the created images here.
Functions
Like other HDR / FDR graphics software (e.g. Photomatix , EasyHDR , HDR Shop ) the program tries to eliminate certain disadvantages, especially of digital photography. Many pictures suffer from the fact that they can only inadequately display the contrast and dynamic range of the real subject. This means that certain areas are overexposed (white, with few outlines) and other areas are underexposed (black, with few outlines).
This deficiency is countered by the fact that several exposures that are overexposed or underexposed to different degrees ( exposure series ) are composed into "an overall picture" using exposure blending . Overexposed images mark the dark areas and underexposed images mark the light areas.
In addition, FDRTools is able to correct slightly shaky images in series exposures.
