Golda Tencer (born August 2, 1949 in Łódź ) is a Polish-Jewish actress, singer and director.

Life

Golda Tencer comes from a religious Jewish family. Her father Szmul Tencer (1915–1971) was a survivor of the Holocaust . Her mother Sonia Tencer survived the war in the Soviet Union .

She made her first stage experiences at the Jewish school Pereca in Łódź and as a child at the Teatr Powszechny in Łódź. In 1969 she went to Warsaw and completed an acting training at the local Jewish theater . In 1971 she received her acting diploma and has been a member of the Jewish Theater company ever since. In 1984 she received a grant from the United States government, which gave her the opportunity to learn about theater work in the United States .

Golda Tencer is the long-standing director of the Jewish Theater of Warsaw , Szymon Szurmiej married. In Poland she is considered one of the outstanding interpreters of Yiddish chansons and has also made guest appearances in other European countries. a. in Germany.
