The FG Steyr ("Fußballgemeinschaft Steyr") was a war-related game association of the football clubs SK Amateure and SK Vorwärts from the Upper Austrian district town of Steyr in Austria and existed from April 1944 to the end of 1944.

history

SK Amateure Steyr played in the 1943/44 season in the Gauliga Donau-Alpenland , the top division in East Mark football at the time . With the declaration of total war and the convening of all reasonably able-bodied men to war - or Reich Labor Service and the clubs in the major leagues had to deal with occupation problems. The SK Amateure no longer had enough footballers to set up a team, and so the club had to withdraw from the Gauliga on April 20, 1944.

In April 1944 there was finally a merger with the city rivals SK Vorwärts Steyr , who played in the Salzburg-Oberdonau league , in order to at least maintain the game in this class. The merger club, which started the season as SK Vorwärts , played the championship round in 1943/44 without defeat and won the championship with a four point lead over the Reichsbahn SG Linz . This title win still counts as the Upper Austrian provincial championship. A promotion to the Gauliga was due to the decision to contest this in the 1944/45 season exclusively with clubs from the city of Vienna , however, not possible.

The championship of the 1944/45 season in the national class, which was again limited to clubs from Upper Danube, was canceled in autumn 1944 due to the course of the war. At this point the "FG Steyr" had played seven games and was in fourth place in the table. After the championship was canceled, the club was dissolved.

In the 1945/46 season , both the SK Amateure and the SK Vorwärts competed as independent clubs in the Upper Austrian regional class.
