The Fédération Internationale des Communautés Educatives ( FICE ) is a global network for people and organizations who work in the field of alternative child and youth care. The focus of the activities of this network lies in the improvement of the education outside the family ( home education , youth welfare measures , youth welfare ). FICE Austria, FICE Switzerland and the German IGfH are national sections of FICE International. In FICE, providers of youth welfare measures, training institutes, universities, research institutes and government agencies active in this field are represented.

history

FICE was founded in Trogen (Switzerland) in 1948 under the auspices of UNESCO . It maintains contacts with UNESCO and UNICEF , the Council of Europe and ECOSOC . She is a member of the UN NGO group for children's rights and a member of ENSACT. Co-President of FICE-International are Emmanuel Grupper and Rolf Widmer. FICE has 26 national organizations. Each serves as an umbrella organization for professionals, NGOs and social services.

Until 1990, there was a section in the GDR alongside the section in the Federal Republic of Germany .

aims

FICE supports children who are cared for outside the family, children with special needs and children at risk. The main goal is to support the development of childcare outside the family.

Act

FICE, SOS Children's Villages and specialists from over 30 European countries were involved in the development of quality standards for home education. This catalog of criteria, known as Quality4Children Standards , is a guideline and is now adopted by institutions. The publications of these standards are currently in 27 languages, but also in a child-friendly German language version.
