The Women's FIH Hockey World League / 2016-2017 final took place between November 17th and 26th, 2017 in Auckland , New Zealand . For the second time after 2013, the winner was the Netherlands .

The best seven from the FIH Hockey World League / 2016-2017 semifinals qualified for the tournament with the host New Zealand . Two groups of four were formed from the participants and played a simple round of everyone against everyone. In the quarter-finals, the first of one group faced the last of the other group. In addition, the second of one group played against the third of the other group. The losers of the quarterfinals each played a placement game against another loser. The pairings were determined based on placement and performance in the group stage. The winners of the quarter-finals went to a semi-finals and depending on success, the tournament ended in the game for third place or in the final.
