The FK Novokuznetsk ( Russian Футбольный Клуб Новокузнецк ) is a Russian football club from Novokuznetsk and plays in the second Russian division .
history
The association was founded in 1946. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the club started in the newly founded First Russian Division (second highest division) in 1992 . Due to a reduction in teams, the club rose two years later to the second division (third highest division). After nine years in third division Novokuznetsk rose again in 2002 to the 1st division, where the team spent three seasons before relegation followed. After one season, they were promoted to the first division, which the club had to leave after two years. In the 2012/13 season Metallurg played again in the 1st division. However, after the end of the 2012/13 season, the licensing committee refused the club the license for violating the licensing regulations for the following season in the 1st division. Until 2015, the association was named FK Metallurg-Kuzbass Novokuznetsk, based on the Kuznetsk Basin coalfield . In 2015 it was renamed FK Novokuznetsk .
