Treno Alta Frequentazione , also known under the technical name ALe 426/506 , is an Italian electric multiple unit . A total of 100 vehicles were built for different railways.

history

The first cars were delivered on May 12, 1997 from the Breda works in Pistoia .

After a few months of test drives, the first multiple units arrived on the Roman suburban line FM1 from May 24, 1998.

On June 1 of the same year, the first train for Ferrovie Nord Milano came , which was tested from July 21.

Construction and equipment

The Treno Alta Frequentazione was designed for regional traffic in urban living spaces. The design of the trains produced by AnsaldoBreda comes from the Italian designer Pininfarina . The trains, which consist of four interconnected cars, have 8 double-door sliding and sliding doors on both sides, which results in a total of four doors per car, or 16 doors per railcar. The electric multiple unit is built as a double-decker train, so there are two floors in each carriage used for passenger transport, which are connected by stairs. The vehicles can be driven in multiple traction and are equipped with driver's cabs at both ends, which enables two-way traffic. The total length of a train is around 104 meters.

Passenger compartments

The passenger areas of the Treno Alta Frequentazione are single-class and contain 4 seats per row in the configuration 2 + 2. The trains are fully air-conditioned and have a total capacity of 841 passengers, including 469 seats and one place for the transport of passengers with reduced mobility.
