The football club Bernau e. V. (short: FSV Bernau) is a German football club from the city of Bernau near Berlin in the Barnim district of Brandenburg . FSV Bernau plays its home games on the club's own sports facility in the Rehberge stadium. With over 320 members, including around 200 young people and children, the FSV Bernau is the largest football club in the city of Bernau.
history
The roots of FSV Bernau go back to 1973. Sports friend Bernd Schulze took the initiative and started with 53 active players in two soccer teams under the name BSG SPW Bernau. At the time when the football club was founded, companies acted as sponsors and served as a so-called company sports community (BSG). The association was named after the largest employer in the city of Bernau near Berlin , the local laminate press plant (SPW Bernau). In addition to the football department, the BSG also housed other sections, e.g. B. handball, table tennis or bowling.
1973-1989
In 1972, the club started with a recreational soccer team, which was later founded as a company community and took part in games in the Bernau district as a Bernau B1 unit . In the first year after it was founded, the club rose to the 1st district class. In the following year, the Bernau B1 unit renamed itself to the established BSG SPW Bernau. Due to the numerous departures of the men's department, they saw themselves forced to dissolve the men's team in 1976. The youth department remained in the club and celebrated some successes. The greatest success dated from the 1977/78 season. The youth (comparable to today's B-youth) took a sensational 5th place as a newcomer in the then District League North. In the same season, the youth team also emerged as the winner of the indoor district championship and the district partakiade (cup). Since the children and adolescents of the Bernau population were all organized in the youth department of the BSG SPW Bernau (with a few exceptions), those responsible decided to rebuild a men's team in order to offer prospects to the numerous youngsters in football. The resumption of the men's team in game operations happened in the 1981/82 season under coach Rainer Schreier. Due to the popularity of football, the BSG had a second men's team in the following season. The first men's team ended the 1981/82 season as a relay winner and rose to the first district class .
Due to the stable style of play, the men's team remained in the district class for the next seven seasons. The successful 1988/89 season ended with the Bernauer club as a winner and rose to the next higher division, the district class of the Frankfurt / Oder district . With the dissolution of the Vorwärts Bernau association during the winter break of the 1989/90 season, the BSG SPW Bernau received the right to start in the district league . The second team started in the district class and the third in the 1st district class. Due to the socio-political upheaval, the previous club, the BSG SPW Bernau, dissolved.
1990 until today
After the reunification , the sports club was re-established. The newly founded football club Bernauer FSV renamed the current club FSV Bernau a short time later. For sporting and economic reasons, the club's management at the time waived the right to start and took up the league game in the district class (middle season) in the 1990/91 season. In the same season, the state of Brandenburg introduced the association league . It is still the top division in the state of Brandenburg. Below the association league, the district leagues Frankfurt / Oder and Potsdam as well as the following district classes were organized. The state classes known today were introduced by the Brandenburg State Association in the 1992/93 season.
The FSV Bernau found itself after the restructuring in the national class relay east. At the end of the season, the Bernauer Club moved to the North Season and in the same 1993/94 season made it to the North Regional League . The sporting consistency was missing after the promotion within the team, so that two seasons later you had to go back to the national class. In the 2005/06 season, they were once again promoted to the national league, which was the sporting home of FSV Bernau for seven years. After another relegation in the 2012/13 season, the team made the big change and immediately rose again to the Landesliga Nord. Since the 2013/14 season, the first men's team played in the country's second-highest division. In addition to the change to the higher division, the club also changed the club colors to blue / white in the same year.
In the 2015/16 season, the club narrowly missed promotion to the association league. In the decisive final game, the first team lost at home to league rivals SG Union Klosterfelde and ended the season in third place. For the new 2016/17 season, the club signed Christian Städing as a new coach and rose to the top of the table in the 2016/2017 season.
In addition to the first team, the club also has a second team. Due to the amalgamation of the Oberhavel and Barnim football districts, the football district decided to found the OHV / BAR district league in 2013 . The reserve team finished the 2013/14 season as 7th of the Barnim League and thus qualified for the district upper league. The rise was also the team's greatest success. Players who learned to play football at FSV Bernau still play in the second team today. Despite the club's blue and white color, the footballers of the second team around coach Kai Fandrich have been playing in red clothing for years at away games.
Venues
In the early years after the re-establishment, the teams and the junior teams played on the sports facility " Am Wasserturm ". Due to the growing number of members and the continuing sporting interest of the Bernau population, the then board decided to look for an alternative sports facility. This is how the new location in Rehberge was created. Over the years, a modern facility with several lawns has grown. Since then, active athletes have been using their own athletic turf pitches as well as the urban artificial turf pitches for training and league matches. The modern club house rounds off the basic sporting and social building blocks for successful football.
The Rehberge stadium is designed for a capacity of 2000 spectators. A covered grandstand with 200 seats and three wheelchair spaces offers plenty of comfort. All three places have escape lights. There are around 200 parking spaces near the stadium. The sports facility can also be reached by public transport and local transport . The stadium is within walking distance of the Borsigstraße bus stop, which is served by the Barnimer bus company (line 903, on weekdays line 894) . The stadium is not far from the A11 federal motorway . Spectators and guests use the Bernau-Nord junction when arriving on the motorway .
