The Barnimer Bus Company Ltd. (BBG) is the operator of public transport (LPT) in the district of Barnim and the region Bad Freienwalde in the district Oderland . The company's headquarters are in Eberswalde . The company also operates the Eberswalde trolleybus , one of only three German trolleybus operators left.
history
After the dissolution of the municipal business enterprise (KWU), the VEB Verkehrsbetriebe Eberswalde was founded as an independent company on May 1, 1951. On April 1, 1953, VEB Kraftverkehr Eberswalde was founded, which was responsible for freight forwarding as well as regional passenger transport. On January 1, 1963, the motor transport company in Bad Freienwalde and on June 30, 1963 the company in Bernau was subordinated to motor transport in Eberswalde.
With the merger of the cities of Eberswalde and Finow on March 22, 1970, it was necessary to create a new system for inner-city local transport in order to meet the needs of the citizens of the new city. In preparation for this reorganization, VEB Verkehrsbetriebe Eberswalde was incorporated into the VEB Kraftverkehr Eberswalde-Finow as a new branch on January 1, 1970. On July 1, 1970 the company lost an important part of its freedom of choice when it became part of the district-run VEB Verkehrskombinat Frankfurt (Oder).
Shortly before the start of the monetary union between the GDR and the Federal Republic, VEB Kraftverkehr Eberswalde-Finow, administered by the Treuhandanstalt , was separated from the combine and converted into a corporation called Verkehrs- und Speditionsgesellschaft mbH. On July 20, 1992, the company was split into two corporations with retroactive effect from January 1, 1992 - Barnimer Busgesellschaft mbH as the operator of public transport and Eberswalder Speditionsgesellschaft mbH Dettendorfer und Partner as operator of freight transport. The operating parts in Bernau and Bad Freienwalde remained as branches of the Barnimer bus company. On August 4, 1997, the company joined the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB), which started on April 1, 1999.
