society
Veritas Wittenberge was created in 1948 from a merger of the newly formed post-war sports groups South Wittenberge and North Wittenberge (these took the place of Singer TSV and Alemannia), and from then on played as ZSG Wittenberge. There were already several football clubs in Wittenberge before 1945, the most famous being the Singer Wittenberge Werkself . In the period that followed, the Brandenburgers faced several renaming and mergers.
In 1949 the name was changed to BSG Industrie Wittenberge and from 1950 to Mechanics and Motor Wittenberge . On June 3, 1960, Motor Wittenberge merged with the then third division club Chemie Wittenberge , and took over its place in the 2nd GDR league as BSG Chemie / Motor Veritas Wittenberge . Local rival chemistry had been active in the third highest East German class since 1958, successor Veritas Wittenberge managed to do so until the league was dissolved after the 1962/63 season.
After the 1970/71 season, the Brandenburgers reached promotion to the GDR league as second in the Schwerin district league . They benefited from the expansion of the league from two in the 1970/71 season to five seasons in 1971/72 . The next six seasons Wittenberge was able to establish itself in the second highest division of the GDR. In 1977 Veritas had to leave the league together with Lok Halberstadt and Lok Stendal . In the period that followed, Wittenberge succeeded in rising again in 1978, 1980 and 1982, but the team had to accept immediate relegation in the style of an elevator team .
After the reunification, several renaming took place: 1990 in SV Veritas Wittenberge and from 1991 with the exit of the carrier company briefly in Grün-Rot Wittenberge . After another name change with the acceptance of the historical name Alemannia Wittenberge , the post-war name CM Veritas Wittenberge was again adopted at a general meeting in 1996 . In terms of sport, the club disappeared from higher-class football very quickly. After a temporary stay in the Association League Brandenburg , Wittenberge is currently active in the state class West Brandenburg . On June 9, 2008, the FSV CM Veritas Wittenberge merged with the SG Breese in 1951 to form the FSV Veritas Wittenberge / Breese .
