The D.345 is a series of diesel locomotives of the Italian state railway Ferrovie dello Stato .

history

The D.345 series was designed for all services on non- electrified routes. The total of 145 copies built were procured in different lots , which, however, do not differ significantly. The locomotives have no Zugheizanlage and are today therefore only before freight trains used - formerly were with the passenger trains also Heizwaggons with diesel engine carried for train heating. Over the years, some locomotives have been provisionally retrofitted for use with push-pull train wagons ( control cars ). The push-pull train control line was installed for this purpose, but its function was limited to controlling the automatic doors - remote control of the locomotive was not possible. From the beginning of the 1990s, the series was gradually retrofitted with multiple controls. In 1996 three machines were leased to Ferrovie del Sud Est in Bari .
