Fabián Estay (born October 5, 1968 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean football player who mainly played in midfield .

career

societies

Estay began his professional career with his "home club" Universidad Católica , with which he won the 1987 Chilean football championship.

In 1991 he moved to FC St. Gallen in Switzerland and after a year and a half returned to his homeland, where he was signed by the Club Universidad de Chile . After six months he went back to Europe and signed a contract with Olympiacos .

In 1995 he spent again in Chile , where this time he was under contract with the record champions Colo-Colo .

He then moved to Mexico , where he stayed until the end of 2004. He spent the first four years at Deportivo Toluca FC , with whom he won two championship titles. Immediately after winning the championship in the summer of 1999, when he had been voted Footballer of the Year in Mexico for the third time , he signed with Club America , with whom he won another league title in the summer of 2002 . Then he was under contract with the clubs Atlante and Santos Laguna , also playing in the Primera División , before he made a guest appearance at the second division CF Acapulco in the first half of 2004 . From there he managed to return to Deportivo Toluca FC, for whom he played again in the Mexican first division in the second half of 2004.

From here he moved to Colombia for the 2005 game year , where he was under contract with América de Cali . His last stop was CD Palestino, based in his hometown of Santiago .

National team

Between 1990 and 2001 Estay completed a total of 68 missions for the Chilean national team , scoring five goals. The highlight of his career as a national player was his participation in the 1998 World Cup , where he was used in all four games in his home country.
