Fabian Funck

Fabian Funck (also Fabian Funcke ; † after 1551 ) was a scholar, electoral councilor in Brandenburg and provost of Cölln .

Life

Fabian Funck came from Haynau in the Duchy of Liegnitz . In 1499 he enrolled at the University of Cracow , where he became a Baccalaureus in 1502 . In 1506 he came to the University of Frankfurt with his brother Matthias , where he obtained his master's degree the following year . In the following years he gave lectures on canon law , but also poetics in the artist faculty , where he also appeared as an examiner. In 1513 he became dean of the university. In 1514 he left the university.

He then worked as a teacher to Prince Elector Joachim , since 1520 he has been a councilor in the Electorate of Brandenburg. In 1529 he was mentioned for the first time as provost of Cölln , and for the last time in 1535 when he traveled with other councilors to Krakow to the Polish royal court because of a marriage contract for the young elector.

In 1537 Fabian Funck became canon in Breslau and in 1539 cathedral dean in Brandenburg. Funck was also canon in Lebus and since 1443 in Havelberg . In 1551 he went to Breslau, where he probably died soon after.

Some Latin writings on the Seven Liberal Arts and other areas of knowledge have been preserved by Fabian Funck .
