Gustav Bauch (born July 1, 1848 in Laskowitz , district of Ohlau ; † July 20, 1924 in Breslau ) was a German teacher, researcher of humanism and the history of German universities, and regional historian.

Live and act

From 1885, Bauch worked as a secondary school teacher in Breslau. He was also an employee of the General German Biography . His research concerned the history of the Silesian region as well as university history . In several studies on the history of humanism, he was also concerned with grasping its peculiarity: "the educational ideal of humanism was encyclopedist". He referred to Georg Tannstetter , who worked at the Universities of Ingolstadt and Vienna , who embodied the “trinity” of humanist, astrologer and medical practitioner in an exemplary manner.
