He then went to the youth team at FC Wacker Innsbruck , where he briefly returned to his home club Innsbrucker AC in 2004. From 2005 he was under contract with Wacker. Schumacher made his debut in the top Austrian league on May 12, 2007 against SV Pasching , when he came on for Olushola Aganun in the 73rd minute when Harald Planer saw the yellow-red card. In 2007/2008 Schumacher was awarded by Wacker to SV Hall and came back to Wacker after the Tyroleans were relegated from the Bundesliga in 2008.

With FC Wacker Innsbruck, Schumacher was in the 2009/10 season two points ahead of FC Admira Wacker Mödling champion of the second-rate Austrian first division and thus rose with the team in the Bundesliga. On May 14, 2011, Schumacher got another chance to prove himself in the Bundesliga in the game against FK Austria Wien . This was followed by the home game against LASK Linz on May 22, 2011 and the game against SK Sturm Graz in the 36th round on May 25, 2011 . After three successful Bundesliga appearances at the end of the 2010/2011 season, Fabian Schumacher ended his career at FC Wacker Innsbruck after 6 years.

In 2011, Schumacher came to SV Reutte to replace the injured goalkeeper. Fabian Schumacher has been guarding the WSG Wattens goal in the Regionalliga West since the 2012/2013 season .
