Fabian von Feilitzsch (* before 1457; † between December 1 and 7, 1520) was a margrave and Electoral Saxon councilor and supporter of Martin Luther and his teachings.

Life

Fabian von Feilitzsch came from the Regnitzlosau branch of the von Feilitzsch family . He was the son of Hans von Feilitzsch and a sister of Wilhelm von Dobenck who was not known by name . His brothers were called Jobst, Martin and Mathias. Fabian von Feilitzsch remained unmarried.

The Landbuch von Hof from 1502 names Fabian von Feilitzsch as the margravial follower on one of three manors, namely the one in Regnitzlosau , which is designated as behind the church . This included the Vorwerk and the Raitschin sheep farm . In addition to their own estates, the family branch also had Saxon fiefs. In 1496 he was a member of the court court in Kulmbach in margravial services . In 1502 he took up the position as captain of the prince-bishop in Zeitz . In 1514 he lent 660 guilders to the governors of Gera .

In 1519 in the service of Elector Friedrich the Wise , he and two other knights received a golden rose from the papal nuncio Karl von Miltitz , a gift from Pope Leo X to the elector. In the edition Assertio Omnium Articulorum M. Lutheri, Per Bullam Leonis X. novissimam damnatorum , published at the end of 1520, Martin Luther thanked Fabian von Feilitzsch as his protector and for his wealth of ideas and devout fulfillment of duties. Further words of praise are also handed down in a speech at the table by Luther. In 1520, Fabian von Feilitzsch and other councilors met with Luther and Philipp Melanchthon in Eilenburg . His cousin Phillip von Feilitzsch was among the wedding guests of Luther's marriage to Katharina von Bora in 1525 . The Feilitzsch coat of arms is placed above Luther's grave in the castle church of Wittenberg .
