Fabio Calzavara (born September 21, 1950 in Istrana ; † May 28, 2019 in Moscow ) was an Italian entrepreneur and politician .

life and career

He was co-founder of the Liga Veneta (1980) federal political movement based in Padova (Padua); Member of the Board of Directors of the European Federal Union in Zurich from 1982 to 1986; Member of the National Council of Veneto of the Association of Independent Autonomous Entrepreneurs (Associazione Liberi Imprenditori Autonomisti) (ALIA) 1993–1994 and then the LIFE Liberi Imprenditori Federalisti Europei (Free Federalists European Entrepreneurs).

Member of Parliament of the XIII. Legislature (1996–2001), chairman of the III. Foreign Ministry Commission; Member of the first major Russia-Italy inter-parliamentary commission (1997–2001); Co-founder of the "Fondazione per il supporto alla Piccola e Media Impresa" (Foundation for the Support of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) based in Moscow (1998); independent consultant accredited to the European Parliament and the European Commission (Bruxelles 2003–2004);

In the local area, he was elected as public administrator in the following public institutions: Provincial Council of Treviso (1985–1990); Municipal Council of Montebelluna (1987–1991) Municipal Council of Mel-Belluno (1994–1998)

In December 2000, despite the embargo against Iraq, he took part in the first humanitarian flight Paris-Baghdad, organized by Abbé Pierre and father Jean-Marie-Benjamin, with 118 other political and cultural figures (parliamentarians, members of parliament, senators, ambassadors) , religions, international organizations, ONGs, artists and journalists from France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and England.

Since 2005 he lived and worked as a trade advisor in Moscow, where he died in May 2019.
