Building

Entrance pavilion

The station designed by the architects Bédard & Averna was designed as an avant-garde tunnel station in which a bright color scheme dominates. There are two pavilions for the entrances and exits. They are made of concrete and glass and stand out due to their acute angles and sloping surfaces.

The platform level with two side platforms is 13.0 meters deep . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 644.50 meters to D'Iberville and 839.60 meters to Jean-Talon . There are connections to two bus routes and two night bus routes operated by the Société de transport de Montréal .

art

Wall painting

Jean-Noël Poliquin was responsible for the artistic design of the platform level. For this purpose, he used color-painted panels made of polymer concrete . They form semicircular cutouts that give the impression of movement. To the west they are in shades of purple and magenta, to the east in tones of cyan and green. The pattern is broken up by individual concrete slabs. The handrails of stainless steel , which runs along its all over the wall, bend partly around the disks, but are also bent downwards and serve as a support for seating.

history

The station opened on June 16, 1986, together with the Saint-Michel - De Castelnau section of the blue line. Name giver is the Rue Fabre, named after Édouard-Charles Fabre (1827-1896), the first Roman Catholic Archbishop of Montreal .
