Building

One of the two entrance pavilions

The station designed by the architectural firm Brassard & Warren was created in the form of a tunnel station . The walls are clad with bricks in different shades of brown, loosened up by seating in a burgundy-red color scheme, which are also framed in bricks. Escalators lead up on the southwest side to a spacious distribution level on the surface. There is a side entrance on the northeast side. Both entrance pavilions are kept rather simple and consist of bricks and concrete.

The platform level with two side platforms is located at a depth of 15.6 meters . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 607.60 meters to Saint-Michel and 644.50 meters to Fabre . There are connections to two bus lines and a night bus line of the Société de transport de Montréal .

art

Le Pélican

In the southwest entrance hall, a work of art by Eddy Tardif is attached to the wall above the platforms. It is made of anodized aluminum and represents the ship Le Pélican by Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville in an abstract form . The 13 × 8 meter work includes a lighting system that simulates the movement of the sun.

history

The station opened on June 16, 1986, together with the Saint-Michel - De Castelnau section of the blue line. Name giver is the Rue d'Iberville, named after the French explorer Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville (1661–1706), the founder of the Louisiana colony .
