Face Down Hero is a thrash metal band from Marburg in Hesse .

history

Face Down Hero was founded towards the end of 2004 by singer and guitarist Christian Nauman and drummer Carsten Kachelmus from the thrash band Mind-Ashes , which existed from 1993 to 2003. The band name comes from a title by the Thrash band Forbidden from San Francisco . Jens Kelschenbach joined a little later as the second guitarist. A bass player who met the expectations of the other band members could not initially be found. Therefore, the band initially worked as a trio on the first songs.

In the summer of 2005, Syndrome was released, a 3-track demo EP distributed exclusively to the press. Shortly after the recordings, the band found a bass player in Sebastian Rink. In October 2006 the band signed a recording contract with the independent label Yonah Records . The first album Opinion Converter was released in March 2007 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Then the band had several appearances in clubs and at various festivals. The second album Where All This Anger Grows was recorded under the direction of Martin Buchwalter and was released in March 2008. The album stayed in the German MRC 30 charts for several weeks.

In 2009 the third album Of Storytellers and Gunfellas was released . The album hit the German metal DJ charts. Then the band went on their first mini tour through German clubs with the Finnish metal act Diablo . At the beginning of 2010, Jens Kelschenbach left the band. The band recorded their fourth album in March / April 2010 as a trio. In September 2010 Richard Müller joined the band as the new guitarist. In August 2011 René Schütz (ex - Accu§er ) replaced Richard Müller on guitar. In the same month, the fourth album was released with the title Divisions And Hierarchies .

In 2013 the band switched from Yonah Records to the RedShiftMusic label . In 2014 the new album Product Of Injustice was released . Shortly after the recordings, Alex Hartmann replaced René Schütz on guitar.

The band played live in the following years as support and a. by big names in the scene like Flotsam and Jetsam or Tankard . The following album, False Evidence Appearing Real , was recorded in several stages in 2015 and 2016. For the release they again agreed on a collaboration with the label Yonah Records under which the first 4 albums have already been released.

The guitarist Alex Hartmann was split up during the mix for the album. A few months after the release in April 2017, Patrick Nörtling became his replacement. From 2017 to 2020 the band played very rarely live. At the end of 2019 there was another break and guitarist Patrick Nörtling left the band again. A few gigs were then played as a trio before Marc Kollmann joined as the new guitarist in March 2020.
